REGISTRATION

** There is a short survey attached to the registration form which is required for tournament entry. You’re not expected to know all of the answers, so don’t worry too much about getting them right! Your best guess is just fine, and you’ll have the opportunity at the end of the tournament to take the same survey and enter for a chance to win one of five $100 prizes! See the PRIZES section for more details.

RULES

DISCLAIMER

Only those with a valid Otsego County, NY, Delaware County, NY, Chemung County, NY, Broome County, NY, Tioga County, NY, St. Lawrence County, NY, or Chenango County, NY address will be eligible for cash prizes. All those outside of the listed New York counties will be ineligible to receive any cash prizes.

AGE BRACKETS

All participants will be split into two age brackets. The Juniors will consist of ages 14 and under, and the Seniors will consist of ages 15 and over.

JUNIORS RULES

• Begins at 12:00pm, August 22nd, 2020
• Single elimination
• Best of 3 sets
• 3 stock – 7 minutes
• Items hazards and FS off

SENIORS RULES

• Begins at 5:00pm, August 22nd, 2020
• Double elimination
• Best of 3 sets 
• Best of 5 sets for WF LF GF/GFR 
• 3 stock – 7 minutes
• Items hazards and FS off

SET ORDER

• One player calls and flips coin
  *in order to flip a coin within the discord channel type ?flip
• Coin flip winner strikes one normal stage
• Coin flip loser strikes two normal stages
• Coin flip winner chooses from remaining two normal stages
• Both players select characters and play match
• Winner bans two stages from entire list
• Loser selects stage from remaining stages 
  *cannot select a banned stage or the last stage they won on
• Winner must announce if they swap characters
• Play the next match and repeat process until the set is over
  
  **players may “gentlemens” to any stage regardless of legality if both players agree

FIVE $100 PRIZES FOR TAKING A CLOSING SURVEY
Once the tournament has concluded, all registrants will have the opportunity to take a closing survey. This survey will be the exact same that you took when registering, so be sure to save your answers (as well as the email giving you the right ones)! All participants in the closing survey will be entered to win one of five $100 prizes just for their feedback. All Participants will be contacted using the information provided in their surveys.

HOW TO CONNECT OR SPECTATE

SPECTATE

Visit this Serenity Hobbies Twitch Link in order to spectate the event.

CONNECT FOR YOUR MATCHES

On the day of the matches and at the appropriate time you will join the Serenity Hobbies Discord. It is recommended you show up slightly earlier than the listed bracket start time to avoid missing anything.

You will then join the #smashultimate channel to receive further instructions. All match calls and results reporting will be done through discord.

You can open the bracket to follow along and a tournament organizer will be tagging people to help call matches. Once you message your opponent either in the smash text chat or over direct message you can pick one of the 8 voice chats to talk during your match or just communicate your arena and stage choices over text.

To form your arena you must go to your Smash Ultimate main menu and click online > smash > battle arenas, and then from there either create arena or join arena. To create an arena set the rules as regulated by the tournament and set a password so no random people join. If your opponent has already made an arena you just click join arena and then enter arena ID.

Once you are in the arena you can select your character and stage in accordance with the set guidelines laid out. When ready, place your token in the ring or you can place your token on the bleachers to spectate the match in progress. Spectating friends’ games is fine but if you spectating adds to the lag you may be asked to leave. You can always watch the mainstage on Twitch. Mainstage matches will be decided by the TO crew and will be in a dedicated arena that will be given to those when they need to join it. Once your match is over, you can report your scores to a TO either over a voice chat or by tagging them on discord. When reporting a score be sure to report the entire score not just who won, we do this for power ranking data collection.
